Freyja Madsen’s Cranberry Pear Relish

A generious gift from our dear friend, Michelle Madsen Chin.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 Cups sugar
  • 1/2 Cup water
  • 1 12 oz package (3cups) fresh cranberries
  • Two medium pears, cores, and cubed
  • 1/2 tsp fresh ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp ground allspice
  • One cinnamon stick

The Build

  • Add sugar and water to a saucepan over medium heat, stirring to dissolve sugar.
  • Boil uncovered for 5 minutes. 
  • Add cranberries, pears, nutmeg, allspice, and cinnamon stick, mix, and return to boil.
  • Continue to boil, stirring occasionally, until cranberry skins pop, 3-4 minutes.
