This is the best grilled sandwich you’ll ever make, I promise!
Ingredients
- 2 slices of Italian Mortadella per sandwich.
- Smoked Honey Ham, sliced thin.
- Wite bread. I prefer artisan white, but sourdough is also good.
- Red Pepper Jelly (I like Bonnie’s Jams)
- Mayo
- Optional pickled red onions
- Cheese. Brie is the absolute best, but you can use Swiss if that’s what you have.
(avoide cheddar for this one)
The Build
- Mayo the inside of one slice, and be generous.
- Red Pepper Jelly the other slice. Go light on this side; a little goes a long way.
- Fold up to 4 pieces of Ham into “bunches” and place them on the red pepper jelly side.
(“bunching” the ham into little piles help ad air, making each bite less dense) - Fold Mortadella in half and layer on top of the ham.
- Ad soft bree over the mortadella.
- Set your skillet to medium-low and let it preheat.
- While the pan warms, assemble the sandwich and butter both sides.
- Grill, covered, until golden brown on each side.
Optional: After removing the sandwich from the pan, open it and carefully add cold pickled red onions. They add a nice tang and crunch to a warm sandwich.
